August Classes Open for Registration
Like many trades, there is a critical need for trained technicians in the onsite power/ generator industry. OnSite Power Academy (OPA) helps companies address this issue by offering training programs for new hires and those looking for a refresher.
OPA is a full-time, year round, hands-on training facility in Spofford, NH. Industry leaders send their staff for power generation training on the latest manufacturer products or to enhance overall industry-specific skills.
Our classes can be taken a la carte, or as part of our entry level / beginner track. The beginner track is offered in ten modules over the course of 6 weeks. Classes repeat themselves throughout the year, so the program can be completed within one year. If you have a new hire with limited experience, these classes will offer the basics necessary to get them trained up and road-ready. This is a hands-on program in a controlled, safe environment.
Registration and information for our August classes is listed below. Click here to be added to our mailing list with OPA classes and industry information.
August Classes
Air Cooled Engines 101
Mon. – Wed., Aug. 7-9
A “from the ground up” approach to residential single- and two-cylinder air cooled engines commonly used in home standby generators. This class is a great introduction for rookie techs who have little to no engine experience at all, all the way up to seasoned techs looking for a refresher.
AC/DC Components 101
Mon. – WEd., Aug. 21-23, 2023
This class is designed to familiarize students with operation and testing procedures. This class will get students familiar with finding resources to read and understanding basic electrical schematics. From there, we will dig into getting students familiar with trusting and relying on their meters. This buildup involves testing things like solenoids, fuses, relays etc.
Liquid Cooled Engines
Thurs. & Fr., Aug. 10-11, 2023
This class takes what students acquired from the air-cooled engines class and expands upon that information by diving head first into larger engines that utilize liquid cooling systems instead of air.
Gaseous & Diesel Fuel Systems 101
Thurs. & Fri., Aug. 24-25, 2023
This class is designed to take an entry level technician and get them familiar with system identification, proper service, and basic maintenance as a solid baseline to work off of. We will specifically cover propane, natural gas and diesel powered gensets – if you have interest in other fuel systems, we suggest receiving specific training from those manufacturers.
